Can be used to test the relative resistance to corrosion of painted samples, when exposed to an intermittent salt spray climate at an ambient temperature.
Test specimens are placed in an enclosed chamber and exposed to an indirect spray of synthetic sea water solution, which falls-out on to the samples, in a chamber temperature of ambient. The mist (salt spray) is produced daily for 8 periods of 10 minutes, at intervals of 50 minutes, with no spray being applied during weekends.
This test is also referred to as an ‘intermittent’ salt spray test.
