Metallic and other non-organic coatings – Corrodkote (CORR) test
This test involves the application of a slurry containing corrosive salts to test specimens, exposing them to a high relative humidity for a specified period of time.
The slurry is prepared by dissolving 0.035g of reagent grade copper nitrate trihydrate, 0.165g of reagent grade iron chloride hexahydrate, and 1.0g of reagent grade ammonium chloride in 50ml of distilled water and stirring into the solution 30g of water washed ceramic grade kaolin. This mixture is applied to the test specimens and placed inside an enclosed chamber at 35°C having an exposure zone of between 80 to 90% RH.
